What are the best books for learning lua?

I am quite new with this lua language and was wondering if the more experienced members here could recommend some books or sites that can help newbies learn lua more effectively.

check out T and G apps as they maintain a more recent listing of guides and tutorials. Aside from that, I’d suggest not buying a book and just googling.
