I notice that most game engine has restrictions in gambling. Does corona have one?
** UPDATE FOR THOSE WHO ONLY READ THIS FAR IN THE FUTURE **
The answer is: You cannot make real-money gambling apps w/ Corona SDK.
** INITIAL RESPONSE BELOW, Rob clarified and elaborated later. **
Build whatever you want as long as it is not breaking any laws.
I am pretty sure Corona does not care, and in some ways can’t restrict you (freedom of speech and all that).
However if you’re going to make a Porno Gambling App you probably should not put ‘made with Corona’ anywhere on it. I’m quite sure Corona/Perk do not want their name associated with such apps.
Added after Rob’s response below to clarify my position and give more input.
PS - This is not legal advice (which you can’t expect to get from a forum anyways). I expect that you’re really just wondering if you’re allowed to or if there is some license clause that says you can’t make this app. As far as I know there isn’t one. I did some checking and didn’t find any EULAs to that effect.
Question: I’m assuming you’re talking about real money gambling here. As far as I know there are no gambling plugins that support Corona. So, the onus of security, privacy, etc. would all be on you. That sounds pretty risky. On the other hand if you’re talking about IAP coins as the ‘money’ then that is not really the same thing. I don’t see why you’d have a problem making a poker, roulette, slots, etc. game with IAP coins as the ‘money’. There are about a million of those.
Because of various State and Federal laws and State Gaming Commission regulations, our framework may be required to go through certification processes which requires access to our source code to assure fairness. Our software has not gone through the necessary certifications. So, we can’t really help you with gambling apps.
Very interesting question and answer (Rob’s not mine).
I’ve considered making ‘real money’ gambling apps before, but always backed away for exactly the reasons discussed above:
- Risk.
- Certification.
Cheers,
Ed
PS - After all of this, if AcePlayer11 is not talking about ‘real money’ then I’d be curious to hear an elaboration on specifically what s/he means.
What I mean is making online gambling games, for example black jack where they could play in mobile where they bet money from their account.
Meaning I cant create a gambling game?
You may not create gambling games with our software.
Rob
P.S. I’m not really in USA.
Thanks.
