What do I need to do? Sell my soul at the Crossroads?

I mean come on… I must be the only one who isn’t on the NDA based pre-release access… Just saw the following on Biffy Beebe’s blog :

“Jonathan ended up adding on a lot of little things to his game ‘Tiny Drake’, so it took longer than expected to get finished. And then when he finally started to wrap it up to send out to Apple, Corona released the latest development build that included the In-App Purchasing feature, lol, so yeah, Jon is now adding a few unlock-able features including: better fire balls, three backgrounds, and other dragons. I’ve been working on the backgrounds all day. I will post a few pictures later.”
Now please note I have nothing but admiration and respect for Jon & Biffy so this is not a pot-shot aimed at them at all but if I was doing this on a commercial basis I’d probably be annoyed that there are the “Have” and "Have-not"s even in the Corona world.

Now please let me know dear Carlos. Where do I sign? I already chopped my finger and accumulated sufficient blood to sign the contract in red! Hit me!! Pretty please? [import]uid: 11904 topic_id: 5018 reply_id: 305018[/import]

I don’t have one either. But it’s not a big deal. Soon we will have hourly builds! [import]uid: 8192 topic_id: 5018 reply_id: 16387[/import]

I come here almost every hour just to check if it’s out, lol.
Hopefully the physic body leak is fixed (if there was one to begin with, but it leaked only with the physics.addBody line, so I guess it really is one), and now that iap is there, we will get ads too :stuck_out_tongue:
Would like admob, but probably they have to get permission first to do that? [import]uid: 8486 topic_id: 5018 reply_id: 16403[/import]

You can already do admob and it works really well. [import]uid: 4899 topic_id: 5018 reply_id: 17086[/import]

Not for me in doesn’t. It works about 50% of the time in IOS and never works on Android, sometimes it will display the ad on Android but when you click on it nothing happens!

Could you please tell me how you got it to work? [import]uid: 11459 topic_id: 5018 reply_id: 23146[/import]

Just stumbled upon this thread, I realize it’s a little old, but thought I’d give a reply anyway…

@ksan:

Prelease isn’t always what it seems…

Cavern Drake was essentially the “test dummy” for in-app purchases, meaning, there could have very well been a bug that might’ve affected everyone who used the feature. I raised my hand and had an app that was ready-to-go, so I just had to implement the feature real quick and send it over to Apple.

As you can tell by Biffy’s blog, we were both excited about it (who wouldn’t be?), but I knew in the back of my head that my app could get rejected due to the very early IAP pre-release feature. I was publishing the status on the blog, because I thought Corona developers would be interested in how the feature was coming along (to get a better idea of if the feature was close to being released, or if it needed more bugs worked out behind the scenes).

If my app DID get rejected because of the IAP implementation in Corona, I would have had to report it to the Ansca team so they could get it fixed ASAP, so nobody else would have to go through rejection when the feature made it to the final release.

Thankfully, my app went through and that was the final “test” that proved that IAP implementation was complete, and it was then released to everyone else.

So it’s not really a case of haves and have-nots, it’s more that the Ansca team would rather get bugs and things worked out among a small group of guinea pigs, instead of using their entire subscriber base as guinea pigs.

If you were doing this on a commercial basis, you’d probably be even more annoyed if there was a major bug preventing you from submitting your app that you were excited about.

I just so happened to volunteer to be a guinea pig. As it turns out, there are quite a few volunteers, so now there’s daily builds  [import]uid: 7849 topic_id: 5018 reply_id: 24157[/import]
