What do I need to release an IOS app this days?

Hello guys,

I am getting to release a new game on IOS and was wondering if I need to be aware of something important? The last app I released was few months ago before IOS 8 and was wondering if still release an IOS 7 app without any issues. Here couple questions:

1- Do I need to add the new icons that comes with IOS 8?

2- I am currently using Corona build# 2404. It is if I remember newer than the current stable version so I will think I should not have any problem releasing with that version even with IOS 8 out, correct?

Thank you for any pointers. It is hard to keep track of all these changes while developing apps!

Cheers.

Mo

EDIT: Just in case it is important, the build# shows that I can either build for IOS 7.1 or IOS 8 beta. Should I update Corona to the latest build?

Hey Mo.

The latest public build, 2393a will deploy to Apple just fine.  It will be an iOS 7.1 based app.  These apps will run on the new iPhones in stretch mode.  That is the iPhone 5 screens will be stretched to the size of the new screens.

As far as moving to iOS 8, there are a few things, but most of them have been fixed as of the latest daily build.  The new iPhones will require new Icons, and Launch images are handled differently.  You can see all you need to know in last week’s blog post.

THANKS so much Rob. So if I just need to release for ios 6 and 7 I do not need the new icons or launch images, correct? How about the the screenshots for 6 and 6+ on ITC?

Again, thank you. I appreciate the fast response.

LOL!!

I’m not in a position to upload and submit an app right now, so I can’t go through the process.  However, they have places to upload screen shots for the new devices.  I just don’t know if they are required or optional.   But I’m guessing you should provide them.   Apple is expected to announce new iPads tomorrow and possibly iOS 8.1 and certainly the public availability of OS-X 10.10 Yosemite.  If there are new iPads, they are probably going to want new screen shots for them too.

LOL!

Thanks Rob. That make sense. I will post here if I  get problem with the release so we can all learn from it.
