Hi! I need some urgent and good advice on what app to use to record my screen. I"ve got iPad. Airdrop will not work with my Mac.
Please help, I need to provide a video quickly for a TV channel to feature my game. :)
Thanks!
I use AirServer
-
Start AirServer (your desktop will become available as an AirPlay device)
-
On you device, select Airplay and choose your desktop (also activate mirroring).
Recording can be done from your desktop
Done.
Is there any particular reason you use ScreenCastOMatic instead of the built-in recording feature of AirServer?
Force of habit mostly, but the tool also has editing and uploading features built in, so I can edit, tweak, and then upload to youtube right away. I’ve considered using the built-it recorder (AirServer) and then post processing with another tool though.
However, I’m on Windows so I’m not familiar with any affordable post-processing tools right now.
Cheer,
Ed
PS - For any readers who do want to use the built-in recorder, they can learn how here: http://support.airserver.com/customer/portal/articles/1479754-how-to-use-the-recording-feature
Great! thank you! AirServer works just fine. I Think I’ll buy a subscription some time.
Hi. I had a complete nightmare with this… Bad compression (Camtasia), horrendous frame-rates, sticky streaming… After spending days trying to get this right. I found airParrot and Airserver OK, but if you have a high frame-rate game, they can be a bit laggy and ‘sputtery’.
For absolute lossless results. You should get Corona on your Windows machine and record the simulator using FRAPS, it’s unbeatable and will record an honest 80-90 fps, although you will end up with large files, which are painful to upload, but it’s definitely worth it.
We like ScreenFlow.
I used Corona simulator to get the best frame rate and recorded the screen with Quick Time (Mac).
Also I wanted it to be seen where user is touching so I used Phone Finger for that. Compiled version on my Dropbox if anyone wants it.
To record audio from the simulator you need the Sound Flower or similar.

I tried a few different programs: Airserver, Screenium, Reflector, X-Mirage… none of them really worked well for me. Finally I found Cursorcerer… which just hides / shows the mouse with a key command. So I’m using this with Quicktime.
