what does HTML5 mean to corona sdk?

Just wanted to know some thoughts from the think tank at corona and the wonderful community here on the forums

would it be possible one day to replicate the same user experience of native mobile OS with the web(HTML5) just as we have almost done with desktop/web today?

from my point of view for games and graphical apps, its the user experience which will define the shift of consumers, but HTML5 does and will remain a serious contender for the share of business apps done on mobile devices.

Thoughts?

Well while I am a champion/evangelist for HTML5 for websites, I don’t believe I have seen an web app yet, that can touch its native counterpart. AJAX data queries cannot touch native data access. Google Apps are great, but are still not in the same league as native Office apps (though you do get cool features like multiple people editing at the same time!)

HTML5 apps will never rival that of native apps. For Mobile its a bit different. The network layer will still suck for both HTML5 which can have static assets cached locally, and for native apps, so that kinda wipes out. But having to run Safari on top of the OS and having to accept the limits of the browser will always at least in the iOS world keep them not quite as good.

I’m not sure about Android going further, but sad that WebOS had to die, there web is the native app. [import]uid: 19626 topic_id: 14867 reply_id: 54900[/import]

Don’t worry about HTML5 and Corona. My guess is that you will never see HTML5 support in Corona. Why? Just a wild guess  [import]uid: 5712 topic_id: 14867 reply_id: 54941[/import]
