What version of Visual Studio do I need?

What version of Visual Studio do I need?  It lists 5 different versions and I have never touched Visual Studio before, so this is all new to me.

Can someone provide a link to an appropriate version?  Thanks!

Visual Studio Express 2013 for windows (including update 3)

So the update 3 is alright even though they list update 2 in the docs?

Yes.  It needs to be “Update 2” or better.

I’ve personally tested CoronaCards with “Update 3” and verified that it works.

It might be worth noting it in the docs as “Update 2 or better.”  There are many things with Corona and other programs that are specific to certain versions.

Also, the way it is listed seems to imply that all versions of Visual Studio listed are needed (I realize now that doesnt make sense, but I had never looked at Visual Studio before).

I use Visual Studio 2012 Express for Windows Phone. It builds just fine for Windows Phone 8.0. However, it seems to be incredibly hard to find a download link for this version now (I guess they want to phase it out)

I agree.  Microsoft is phasing out “Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows Phone 8” in favor of “Visual Studio Express 2013 for Windows” ever since “Update 2” came out.  It used to be that the 2012 was the only free option for WP8 development, but that changed last Spring once Windows Phone 8.1 was announced and they added WP8 support to the 2013 version (via Update 2).
