What with ads when Wifi/3G is disabled?

Just a quick question I couldn’t find a direct answer to.

What are some common ways to deal with ads not being available simply because internet has been disabled on the device?

Is there a way to cache a few ads offline and still get something out of it once the device comes back online? It feels like most ads, especially full screen ones, could be completely ignored by the user simply by disabeling internet.

Thanks,

Wim

Hi Wim,

Developers handle this different ways, but some opt to show their own “ads” in place, i.e. advertising another app they’ve created or some other app they want to promote. Or, you just skip the ads entirely… although I suppose it would be better to show something instead of nothing.

Take care,

Brent

Hi Wim,  yes you have put your finger on the flaw in the “freemium” model, how to monitize when user is disconnected as Ads won’t be delivered, and IAP’s won’t connect. Big players do it via things like “fluffy toys…etc - Angry birds” but indies have very few choices.

House ads - obviously can’t connect but at least you have to opportunity to place another app of yours directly in front of the user.

Good to know, thanks for the help
