When will Masking causing Crashing issue be fixed?

Hi,

I’ve recently run into a problem many developers are having with the use of masking causing the simulator (and devices) to crash. I’ve seen many posts on this topic dating back as far as about a year ago. With the game I’m currently developing slated to release in only a few months time, I’m considering cutting the feature that requires masking unless a new build is released that addresses this problem. Of course, I would rather not have to do this, so my question is: is the masking issue being worked on, and, if so, when might it be fixed? Any info, regardless of how vague, would be greatly appreciated, so anyone who has any, please let me know.

There are actually daily builds that I believe addressed this issue as far back as April.

A new stable was released today - download that, test and let me know if it solves your issues.

Hi Peach, nice to hear hear from you again. The issue has now been solved, the problem apparently was with the .png size and format (It needs to be 32 bit format from what my programmer tells me). Whether that’s the actual cause is beyond me, but I’m just happy to be able to utilize masking in my app. That said, thank you for your attention!

Ah yes - that is important indeed. Did the simulator not give you a warning about that? (I believe it should although I could be mistaken as I haven’t played with masks in quite some time.)
