Anyone use http://www.soundsnap.com/ ? Where do you get your sound effects/music from? [import]uid: 8434 topic_id: 5639 reply_id: 305639[/import]
http://www.flashkit.com is one I go to for sound effects mostly. And recently I go on http://www.audiomicro.com for royalty free music. It’s not too expensive. [import]uid: 1058 topic_id: 5639 reply_id: 19345[/import]
They have a few listed here:

http://www.soundrangers.com
is also a good source for soundeffects etc.
edit: Woops… well they’re not for free but they arent expensive either [import]uid: 12870 topic_id: 5639 reply_id: 19561[/import]
search for cfxr its a free sound effect generator tool which can generate all sorts of noises, exports as wav or mp3 (cant remember which) and then just use afconvert to convert to .caf [import]uid: 7334 topic_id: 5639 reply_id: 20448[/import]
@garyk1968,
it is wav and this utility is mostly for 8-bit sounds. I do not understand why you want to convert it to .caf? If you leave them as .wav, you can just use them without issues with iOS and Android.

This site is absolutely terrific, it features a near infinite selection of free sounds (you need to give proper credit though, it’s Creative Commons licensed): http://www.freesound.org/
When you don’t have the exact sound you need, you can also ask a request in their forum. Additionally, you may want to mix a sound yourself from what you find. Need a party sound but nothing exists for the keyword “party”? Then why not download the sound of laughter, chatter, glasses binging, walking steps, eating etc. and mix it yourself.
Also, you can go a long way by making sounds yourself. For instance, pots and kettles from the kitchen can make good sounds for armor and swords, if you adjust them right in a program like Audacity. Good luck with your sounds! [import]uid: 10284 topic_id: 5639 reply_id: 23636[/import]
For music the Creative Commons sites are worth a look:
http://creativecommons.org/legalmusicforvideos/
I found out about those because I read that Braid used music from this site:

I’ve used some sounds from
http://www.freesounds.org [import]uid: 29384 topic_id: 5639 reply_id: 32563[/import]
I know I may be a little late to add this but thought that it would be good if anyone ever searches it out.

If you want high quality professional music thats royalty free, try www.premiumbeat.com.
I bought the music for my game Thumb Tap from there, I got 5 different variants/mixes of the same song that loop seamlessly for $30 US.
Small investment for great music IMO, since music is the one element in my project that I can’t create myself and bad music sounds really bad for the end user.
As mentioned, Sound Rangers has a pretty good selection of sounds, but you can find some free stuff around too if you don’t need much. Free music is much harder to find so you might have to pay for that unless you know a muso or something… [import]uid: 9428 topic_id: 5639 reply_id: 39216[/import]
another resource I just found http://www.nosoapradio.us/ [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 5639 reply_id: 51635[/import]
