Where should I Start?

Hi there,

I’m brand new to Corona, and frankly… to programming in general. I can’t seem to find a good place to start? So far I haven’t been able to find any Tutorials to help me learn the Lua Programming Language.

I’ve read most of the “Resources” section on the site, and it helped… but I am still a bit confused about how to actually get started.

I’ve downloaded numerous examples from the “Code Exchange” section, and looked over the code and messed around with some of them. I have a pretty good idea of what I want to make, and what features etc. to have in it. But I’m back to square one of “Where should I start?”

Any help is appreciated. [import]uid: 37219 topic_id: 6614 reply_id: 306614[/import]

Read from the beginning of Docs in Resources. You say you already have, but just want to make sure.

Anyway, beyond that there are tons of tutorials online. Type “corona tutorial” into a search engine. To start with, there are some good beginner tuts on Techority and here:

Also, forget about what features you want. I mean, note it down to do that stuff later, but first concentrate on learning the tools. That means doing a lot of practice projects and NOT the ideal game you already have in mind. [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 6614 reply_id: 23011[/import]

This may not be exactly what you’re looking for, but I created a 9-minute video showing one way to learn the Corona framework – by ripping apart and examining an existing app:

The video is free – no need to give your email or anything.

Thanks for the help, I think I should be fine from here on out. [import]uid: 37219 topic_id: 6614 reply_id: 23243[/import]

Very helpful advice. I did the same thing, although, got a little stuck on the whole “changing scenes” part of the G vs M app.

I have a collection of Corona YouTube video tutorials here They are embedded from the source. So far I have 73 videos with about 20 more I will be posting in the next week.

Same as @J.A.Whye, no need to give e-mail. Only if you want to post your Corona videos or comment on them.
