Where to get stats on how many downloads games are getting

It would be great if some of you would share info on how many downloads your games are getting. I am close to launching my first game on the IOS platform and was just curious what to expect and if it was going to be the case of a few hundred or a few thousand.

Perhaps the number of downloads is public knowledge and there is a site listing this info?

I would like to think that after all the hard work that goes into making one of these games, that a good few people will at least download the free version just to have a nosey. [import]uid: 7863 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 307101[/import]

As far as I know, there isn’t a site or list that tells you how many downloads an app has gotten. The number of downloads you get is pretty hard to predict imo. Bubble Ball has gotten 7.5+ million, but that’s probably not a normal, average number. [import]uid: 8782 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 24982[/import]

Some games get downloaded a lot, others not so much. Your downloads will clock in somewhere between 0 and 7,000,000. [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 24962[/import]

Appannie.com. Set up an account on there once you publish your app. And then it’ll track it for you. However, you can’t search for other downloads on other apps that you haven’t published. But you can see how they have grossed (if they’re a paid for game), or their highest ranks and daily ranks! [import]uid: 19768 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 25016[/import]

Thanks for the replies. I assume that Apple will let us know how many downloads our own games get in which case what advantages are there to using the Appannie.com tool?

@NayGames - thanks for sharing your numbers. That is an absolutely amazing number of downloads. I hope you manage to benefit financially somehow from such a popular game. Well done!!

@jhocking - I hope mine doesn’t get 0 downloads - that would be very disappointing:) [import]uid: 7863 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 25059[/import]

Apple will let you know how many downloads you get, but appannie shows you your rankings in the different charts, as well as an overall number. [import]uid: 8782 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 25140[/import]

I think Apple only tells you the last 26 weeks of downloads, not all downloads:

Admittedly the majority of your downloads will be within 26 weeks… [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 25397[/import]

Apple keeps figures by day for the first week, then by week for upto 26 weeks. Use appannie (its free and in beta) from day 1 and it’ll store all your stats per day for you.

It also tells you your daily ranks on each store. [import]uid: 8872 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 27554[/import]

I’m signing up to appannie, and I notice that they request your Apple login and password. I understand why they would do this, but it definitely sends the red flag up, for me.

Has anyone had any bad experiences with them?

Would definitely have me seeing a very large red flag too!! I was thinking of signing up for this too but didn’t realise they wanted my apple id. [import]uid: 7863 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 28228[/import]

Well, they give you the option of manually uploading files you’ve got from Apple, but that seems a bit pointless.

I just know I’m not going to be giving my apple login to ANYONE.

If you know what I mean…

They all need your login, Distimo is another tracker and it needs it too.

There’s no way for them to pull your information without it. The only other way, as mentioned before is to manually upload the reports.

If you’re not using an individual account you could create a second username with non admin access - but i’m not sure if that has access to your sales reports.

Anyway, there’s only so much they could do with your login. Its all linked to your own email addresses and address, and even if they hijacked your account what could they do?

The bigger question is what do they do with your data?

If you’re uncomfortable with entering your login data then just don’t use it! [import]uid: 8872 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 28233[/import]

What you can do is create a new iTunes connect user with only sales privileges. All it can do is access sales and download reports, NOT manage applications or contracts. [import]uid: 8782 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 28241[/import]

What Mr Nay said is exactly what I’ve done. App annie is an AWESOME tool. You’d be crazy to pass it up. But you don’t have to take my word for it  *insert reading rainbow sound*

also of interest is the cool mac app called MajicRank. made by the creator of the popular Chopper games(chopper2+iphone+iPad = awesome).

Closest to real time stats as you’ll get as far as I know. However last I used it(which was six months ago) it only would track items that were in the top 200s of its respective catagory. [import]uid: 10361 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 30625[/import]

AppAnnie is great. Love it!

Also use AppViz as a little offline backup …

I’m surprised no one mentioned the obvious: Flurry. Corona makes it super easy to implement Flurry and that is really as close to realtime stats as you get because you’re not at all dependent on Apple’s reporting schedule. Of course, it does depend on the users having a net connection and it can count 1 downloaded copy numerous times if a person has multiple devices, but I’ve found that the “new user” data is still a pretty reliable gauge. Any options for Android developers only? i plan to release my game only on android devices, anyone have any experience on how i would be able to get my game’s download stats? [import]uid: 19620 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 30713[/import]

Is Flurry OK with Apple now? I downloaded the Corona Analytics example but there was no analytics module. Where can I get the analytics.lua file? [import]uid: 295 topic_id: 7101 reply_id: 33772[/import]
