White blank screen flash

Build #124

Device: iPod Touch 3G iOS 5.1.1

Device: iPod Touch 4G iOS 6.1.3

A white blank screen flashes between the Default.png splash screen and the background image loaded in main.lua.

This is more apparent on slower devices. I recommend testing on an iPod Touch 3G to see the effect fully. The 4G-device also has the effect, but is shorter in length. I also tested on an iPad mini, with no visible effect however the device might be fast enough not to show the symptoms.

Sample project attached.

Thanks for the sample project. The issue has been fixed in the graphics 2.0 daily build #126.

Hi!

The fix made the issue less obvious, but didn’t really solve the underlying issue.

In the official Daily Builds there’s no evident transition between Default.png and the background image that’s loaded in main.lua.

Now, in the gfx2 builds there’s a short flash of the default background color before the background image is displayed…

I’ve filed a bug report with more info about the issue, and a sample project :) (Case 26842).

Any updates on this bug?  I’m still seeing this is the latest public release (2013.2100).

We have made several changes to the way images are loaded, along with the initial change to the default background color, which we believe resolves the issue.

Thanks very much for responding so quickly!

That’s great!  Can’t wait to check it out.  Are you able to speculate as to when the next public release will drop?  Unfortunately, I don’t currently have access to daily builds.  Not an emergency for me, just curious.
