Why don't Pro subscribers have access to all Betas?

I’ve been wondering lately why Corona Labs doesn’t think all of their paying customers should have access to the various Beta programs they’re running. Wasn’t one of the advantages of being a Pro subscriber was that you got an early look at new features?

I went and looked at this page:

http://coronalabs.com/pricing/

I was surprised to see that “Access to Beta products” is listed as being included in a Pro subscription.

So, as a Pro subscriber (for many years), why don’t I have access to any of the current Beta programs?

Hi @elbowroomapps.

I think it all depends on the stage of the beta and, in my vision, this is a correct approach. I would say that the first beta (maybe should call it alpha) is done by Corona Staff. After that they open to few selected users or Corona Ambassadors. Later they open to Pro users. After that they release it to all Pro users.

It would be not feasible to open any type of beta to all Pro users… the Corona staff would become nuts trying to deal with everyone and probably that would delay more the development and speed it up…

PS: I am not a Corona staff and this is my personal vision of the situation

We do open up beta features to pro subscribers.   Renato basically has it right.  We sometimes do open beta’s where any Pro subscriber can join in.  Graphics 2.0 is a great example.  Sometimes we do a closed beta and invite certain people based on various criteria and sometimes that group is the Ambassadors.    Sometimes we skip closed beta and go straight to public.  Some times we do private only.

It all depends on what needs tested, how much it needs tested and so on.
