Why I choose CORONA SDK !

Hello guys.

Ive been using corona sdk more than a year and i have to confess that im addicted to Corona sdk.

I have MS degree on Electronic engineering. about a year ago in our company we decided to create full home automation system so we desperately need an application for communication with system in tablets and other devices. I have to mention that im living in IRAN so the price of known BMS ( Building Managment System) is so high in our country. its kind of revolution in home industry in IRAN that we have created the first IRANIAN BMS System. it`s cheap. reliable and easy to install.

I’ve decided to write BMS application in a cross platform SDK so I’ve found corona. basically i have enough knowledge on C#,PHP,SQL programming language then i realized that the corona language is LUA. i just curious about lua and learn it in less than a month, it`s amazing programming language.

corona is a great sdk for gaming but also is a good sdk for business application and pro commercial apps.

I`m now working on second version of home bms application and after it finished i want to publish it under GPL license and opensource for guys who likes to develop more and more and extend corona features.

thank you corona stuff.

i’ve attached screenshot of my application.

it`s my pleasure to know your opinions.

Wow, you have lots of education under your belt.

Also i like the look of the app, i personally don’t understand it, as i’m not as smart as you. xD But, good job!

Hodafez!

Your app and the way it interacts with home automation is very interesting. I develop business apps mostly but have been always interested in robotics, automation etc. Recently I picked a Raspberry Pi with the intention of interfacing with Corona SDK written apps and do some fun projects. Nothing serious and commercial like what your company has tackled but along similar lines. Would love to see your code once you opensource it and see how you interface with the hardware. Thanks much in advance for what you might be able to share with us.

Best of luck in your endeavours.

Thanks dude, just Google about HOME AUTOMATION SYSTEM or Building Managment System for more information i think you will be interested. and even you will give me an idea for more development to better application.

by the way thanks for your response.

Thanks for your nice post. if you like we could discuss more about communication issue. basically I’ve used Wi-Fi communication to my devices so I’ve created embedded webservice on my electronic device and then try to send post or get http command.

one of the best protocols for BMS system is KNX, I’m not using KNX currently but I will implement it after hardware development.

Yup. Wifi connect into an embedded webservice makes a lot of sense and is within easy reach with Corona SDK. That was the direction I was heading as well. Thanks for the info on KNX. I will make sure to read up on that. All the best.
