We received an email saying that due to changes being made to device identifiers, saying that anyone using the previous version of the amplitude SDK will need to update it before Aug 1st.
Dear Customers, This is a notification that if you have an Android app you must update to the latest version of either Amplitude's Android SDK, Amplitude's Unity SDK, or Segment.io's Analytics Android SDK by August 1, 2014. You can access the SDKs here: Amplitude Android SDK: https://github.com/amplitude/Amplitude-Android Amplitude Unity SDK: https://github.com/amplitude/unity-plugin Segment.io Analytics Android SDK: https://github.com/segmentio/analytics-android This update is mandatory due to the fact that Google is deprecating the use of Android ID as a unique identifier and moving to an Advertising Identifier. We have made changes to the SDKs that will use the new Advertising Identifier or a randomly generated ID if you do not use Advertising Identifier. Failure to update the SDK might result in Google rejecting app updates to the Play Store or removing your app from the Play Store. Android Advertising ID docs: http://developer.android.com/google/play-services/id.html Please reach out to us with any questions! Cheers, Alan Ibrahim Director of Customer Success
I don’t see Corona mentioned on there, but if the plugin was built by yourselves then they might not consider it their role to mention it.
Can anyone from Corona comment on whether it will carry on working or not? We’ve been getting some really useful data from Amplitude and it would cause us some real problems if it stopped working (we already also use Flurry in case someone was going to suggest switching to that).
