Will Corona Apps work on all generations/ iOS of iPads?

Hi , I am just starting out with Corona.  Does anyone know if Corona apps will work across all generations/
and iOS of iPads.  I am looking to purchase an iPad for testing apps but not sure which one to get.
Want to make sure the apps will work on it.

Current versions of Corona SDK have a minimum iOS version of 5.1.  This may rule out some really older devices.
