I hope that Corona would have a build option put back in for samsung that builds in their SDKs so that all developers could submit apps to the samsung store. I think you would have to have a lot of prior experience with samsung to have them predefine you as a partner. I have a couple apps on their store already but I wasn’t given partner status
It’s not just a matter of building in their SDK’s. It’s a matter of *using* their SDK’s, which would mean creating functionality that is Samsung only. I doubt that CoronaLabs will create such functionality being that Corona SDK is a cross-platform tool.
I’m not sure about that, the notice they gave is a bit ambiguous: http://seller.samsungapps.com/notice/getNoticeDetail.as?csNoticeID=0000002376; for example the Q and A below:
Q 2 : Is it impossible to submit apps without using Samsung SDK from July 1?
A 2 : No, you must use Samsung SDK to submit apps. however, Sellers who have separate
contract or partnership with Samsung can submit apps without using Samsung SDK. if you have
any question on contract or partnership, please contact our Customer Support team
Has anybody (enterprise user) been able to try compiling in any samsung SDK with their corona app and see if samsung accepts it?
Corona is cross-platform, which is exactly the reason why it would be awesome if they did support Samsung specific functionality so that we could release apps onto the Samsung platform. The easiest way would be through a plugin. There currently exist corona plugins that only work on some platforms like iOS only or Android only. This would be no different.
For me it’s quite clear.
Partners:
Can build and submit with Corona SDK as it is today. No linking to their SDK’s required.
Non-Partners:
Must link and use at least one of their SDK’s. This is only possible for Corona Enterprise developers at the moment.
I think your idea about plugins for their multiple SDK’s would be a good solution to this issue. However this brings attention back to the fact that we need a Plugin marketplace as I personally don’t think that CoronaLabs should devote their limited resources to making plugins.
Tumbs up to this. Look at Unity 3D which have a full store of resources (shaders, 3D models, interfaces…). It should be good for business if Corona could support something like that.
I would like to see corona continue to support apps built for the samsung app store. I make more money off the samsung app store than on google play. Please, please update corona to continue to build for the samsung app store!
Tumbs up!
I spoke with samsung on GDC next and they are offensive in getting their piece of the market cake. I don’t think Coronalabs should rule them out.

So… I have been doing apps for Samsung for a while now and really would not like to lose the ability to develop for their store. There is a clause in the rule that indicates that if you are a partner, then you do not need to use their sdk. More specifically they wrote to me:
“This is to inform you that you have been pre-defined as a ‘Partner’ of Samsung Apps based on your past app registration and partnership. You can register apps without any limitations where we look forward to your next app registration.”
I’m sure others received similar emails or could ask to be partners.
Along with that, I was just informed by Nook that my current builds are not comparable with their new device. What can be done about this?
