Will it be possible to develop a Windows Phone 8?
Are there any plans, the timing of their implementation?
It would be very important to know this in order to see the future development on Corona SDK. [import]uid: 94381 topic_id: 35003 reply_id: 335003[/import]
I don’t think it’s even on the roadmap now, we’re still waiting for the Apple Apps, so I wouldn’t count on it in the near future. [import]uid: 50459 topic_id: 35003 reply_id: 139175[/import]

Supporting Windows Phone/RT would be a massive improvement. I wouldn’t mind paying double money for that.
Since there’s no answer from Corona Staff on this subject anywhere in the forum, I think we can’t expect it before 2014. I would love to hear if Corona is investigating the possibility, and what difficulties need to be overcome to get a Corona powered app to run on a Windows mobile device.
Guys - we are *definitely* exploring the opportunity. We’ve posted elsewhere about this - the key thing here is that supporting a new platform is a huge undertaking and we will do so when it makes sense for both us and our developers. The reality is that 95% of the “app action” is on iOS and Android today, so that is where we are focused. But we absolutely are investigating new platforms and will support them when possible.
Windows Phone is definitely starting to take off… for Corporates Blackberry 10 and Windows Phone are going to become increasingly important and I suspect if Corona doesn’t start supporting them quite soon developers will just build corporate apps using some of the true multi-device HTML5/Javascript platforms out there, as gaming performance levels aren’t needed.
If this were Facebook, I’d “like” your reply
Thanks for responding. After searching some more I indeed found forum posts where Coronalabs was discussing Windows Phone. I am not sure about the 95% you mention, but indeed, Windows Phone is not that actively present in the “app scene”. However, I do see a lot of Nokia Lumia’s popping up around me lately and have received a few questions about tailor made apps for those devices.
Anyway, if there’s anything we (the community) can do to help you speed up the support for Win8/RT, let me know. I’ll even make some pots of coffee if that’s what it takes
springmorning - I plan on holding you to your promise of “paying double”

Murphy’s Law is inevitable. I just received the request from one of my customers to make the business app I created for him available on Windows Phone…
@DavidRangel, is there anything that Coronalabs can help me with (perhaps a pre pre pre alpha release for WinRT)? Or do I have to charge the client for 100% redevelopment in a new environment?
springmorning - I’d love to help you with this, but it is WAY too early. We are not even close to anything that could be used in any way. Sorry…
Oh that reminds me of Tyler Schacht saying that frameworks like Unity and Corona can now be ported when C/C++ support for Windows Phone was announced. Instead of putting bloody OpenGLES into the mix. It’s like inviting to a BYOB party when your neighbors have free booze parties going…

Thanks, I’ll find another way. If you’re in need of a tester for Win8, though… let me know.
