Windows Phone and Nokia Lumia API

So we’re all waiting with baited breath on the release of Corona SDK for Windows. On the Windows Phone platform will we get access to the Nokia Lumia API. http://developer.nokia.com/lumia/nokia-apis

I start to doubt if Corona will ever release the Windows Phone app builder. They have been boasting about this since last fall, and used the term “imminent” since I don’t know when.

I think it’s on time that Corona gives us a roadmap and an indication (other than “imminent” and “soon”) when this release will come. I would love to use Corona more, but as things are now I will remain a Starter.

Did you see this forum post from yesterday?

Windows 8 Phone support is implemented currently as a CoronaCards product.  That is you have to have Microsoft Visual Studio installed and you build the app in VS using Corona Cards.  It’s currently in beta as we have a few more things to do (like we just recently added widgets to it).  Corona SDK is a very large and deep product and it takes time to convert all of it to a, frankly speaking, alien platform.

It’s in a closed beta right now and I think we are close to opening it up to more developers.

Hi Rob, I cannot see the what is inside the link you posted (as It semmes I do not have permission to view this forum.).

From your last statement, I am not sure to understand if Corona will only be available on Windows Phone with CoronaCards or Corona Pro/Entreprise users will also have access to it ?

thanks for clarify this to me.

Nick

@Rob

CoronaCards is another $500 / year  per platform. Not sure how many existing Corona Pro users are interested in that. It also doesn’t answer my original question regarding the Lumia APIs. From the response my guess is that the answer is no. I do agree with leif3 that a roadmap with some timeframes would be useful. (I assume internally your project management team have a road map they’re working from)

Nick, I guess that thread must have been posted to the closed beta forum.  Sorry about that.  Anyway, the TL;DR of it is that Corona user Olaf (@whammy) has released his game on the store using the Corona Windows Phone 8 support.  This is probably the first app to make it to the Windows store.  The point is it’s getting closer since we’ve had a customer get an app live.

@WideAwakeGames, as far as the Lumia API’s go, I don’t know but I doubt it, but I doubt we’ve done anything beyond trying to get what we have working.  But since you have to use Visual Studio to build for this and it’s being done with Corona Cards, it should be easy enough for you to link in libraries in and use them.

Thanks for the clarification, Rob. Though, I’m not much more enlightened about the release date other than it “…is it’s getting closer”.

Anyway, I would love to try the game released by Olaf (@whammy). What should I search for in the Windows store?
