Working with a freelance graphic designer

I’m pretty much finished with my game To The Moon! and beggining work on my next one. One of the things I was interested in was getting a graphic designer with experience with games. I already found a few candidates. I was just wondering how much it would cost a rough estimate and what’s the workflow like. Would I just provide them a list of every element and a description and go from there? Anyone with past experience please reply I want to have a clue before I jump into this. Well as a graphic designer I usually try and quote someone for the whole project or hourly.

I like to get a description from the client that is as detailed as possible. Often I find that the more specific my client is about what they want the more successful we are in working together.

Rough estimates would be like $25 an hour minimum for a good designer, or a project quote that looks at the scope of the project and includes, initial sketches, a focused design, and final edits.

It may be difficult to find someone with experience in this area as it is such a new field.

I just had graphics made for my first corona game and I followed the the procedure that Alfred posted at KarnakGames http://karnakgames.com/wp/2011/01/how-to-outsource-art-for-your-game-using-freelancing-sites/.

It worked VERY well for me and i was able to post a list of assets needed and the price im willing to pay and got four or five applicants in just a few days . one thing i did different was i only posted on oDesk. [import]uid: 27671 topic_id: 7968 reply_id: 30335[/import]
