Would Apple reject apps for objectionable content?

What I mean objectionable content, I mean the violence/nudity in your app. I know there are so many mature rated apps out there that show alot of gore and nudity but my app (that I am almost finished with) has some crazy content in it. I used a 3D program to create the art and the game is a simple shooter game. However, the gore looks real because the program I use is very powerful to create realistic scenes. There is only two levels in my game which show some skin (women in bikinis, a dead belly dancer wearing a skimpy outfit). It’s all 3D art but it looks realistic. I can’t imagine Apple rejecting my app because it’s a simple shooter game that only involves shooting creatures, not humans. I can’t really understand some of their rules because I know alot of apps that have some crazy content like Grand Theft Auto (but that’s because EA made it which probably paid Apple to approve it) and clear vision (sniper game where you kill random people but they’re all in stick figure art). So I’m a little confused about the approval process in terms of what is objectionable. Their rules seem like thousands of apps should’ve been rejected if it was strictly followed or is it case by case depending on the tester? When you go through and do ratings you will select the level of each thing and at that stage it will tell you if it’s allowed or not. Likely you’ll just get an adult rating, or a mature one, etc – unless it’s explicit it should go through.

That said, it likely wont be available in certain countries. A few places really heavily censor entertainment that depicts gore, nudity or “mature themes”. [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 33689 reply_id: 133954[/import]

I see :frowning:

I wish they can just rate it. I’ve seen apps that are 12+ and there’s lots of gore in it. I guess I’ll have to rate mine a 17+ :’(

Thanks for the information Peach

Btw Peach, you posted a video to a game that was quite interesting a long time ago but it’s too much to go through old threads to find it. It’s liquid going through a pipe maze and it had dreary artwork. Does that ring a bell? [import]uid: 69494 topic_id: 33689 reply_id: 133969[/import]

I post so many things it’s really hard to say – sorry XD

RE Apple, just select what is appropriate for your game, if it’s not too intense it shouldn’t get a 17+ I don’t believe.

Good luck with submission process!
