Would this Android Device Be Ok For Testing My App? (Samsung Galaxy S Wifi 5.0)

After buying an android device which turned out to be not compatible with Corona i thought i would ask for some advice or tips before i try buying again.

I now know the device must have an ARMv7 chipset, so i was wondering if the Samsung Galaxy S Wifi 5.0 would be something i could use to test my app? (http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxyswifi/gs5/gs5_main.html)

Has anyone used this device? I’m not even sure it has an ARMv7 chipset.

If this device isn’t ideal, please could someone recommend a relatively low cost device that would be compatible with corona apps.

Many Thanks

Philip

1 Ghz Hummingbird, so should be arm7.

I’m not sure about the cost of this thing where you are, but there may be a better / more useful option like a phone.

If it has a 1Ghz processor or higher its going to be arm7 and fine for Corona. [import]uid: 8872 topic_id: 18247 reply_id: 69828[/import]

Also keep in mind you need Android 2.2 or up. (Which this device has, but I’m posting here for future reference.)

No idea how much those cost over there but the Sidekick 4G is also an acceptable choice for development so if it’s cheaper that may be a good option too.

Boooo. Samsung makes great screens. But this one has an LCD screen not the AMOLED. Amoled screen is a nice crisp screen. I’m not too impressed with Samsung and AT&T. I’ve had my Galaxy S phone (not 5.0 wifi) for a while now and have been stuck on Android 2.2 because of Samsung and AT&T not providing updates. Currently Android is at version 4.0. My next device will probably be the next iphone because of this and many other issues.

Just my opinion.

Your best bet is probably getting an Android developer phone. It’s the more expensive route but, at least you’ll get timely updates of the Android OS. [import]uid: 38820 topic_id: 18247 reply_id: 69879[/import]
