Anybody have any ideas why WP8 emulator crashes my computer every time I run it?
What is the error message being displayed onscreen?
If I were to *guess*, it’s because your machine doesn’t have enough RAM. In order to run Windows 8, Visual Studio 2012/2013, and the WP8 emulator at the same time, Microsoft recommends that you have 4 GB of RAM. If you have less than this, then sometimes the WP8 emulator will fail to launch. Microsoft documents the min system requirements for their WP8 emulator here…

There is no error it just restarts my computer when it gets to the emulator screen that says the OS is starting. I have 4GB of RAM and just installed a fresh version of Win8.1 and Visual Studio Express 2013.
I don’t see anything in my BIOS about the three items that it requires so that maybe the issue which is a major bummer.

I had a similar issue with Visual Studio 2013 but it was for anything I tried to do with it.
I did not spend the time trying to figure it out I just reinstalled from scratch.
I do know that earlier versions of Hyper-V ( used by the emulator for Phone 8 ) had an issue on one of my computers with USB 3. I disabled it and all was well on that computer. Not sure it this helps but i thought I would pass it along.
#2 I have another computer that had an issue with 4 gig of ram - and the emulator would stop running and I had to shut down a bunch of stuff to get it to work again. There is a work around by setting the something in the registry… I am not sure if I can recall what it was but I’ll try to find out. In my case i received a error code that goggled and found it.
FYI after setting that flag I have never had an issue on that computer again.
If i find the link i’ll post it.

Thanks for the help but nothing fixed the crashing so I am giving up on the emulator and had to buy a phone for testing.
