Your opinion please

Hi all, I just wondered if you wouldn’t mind sharing your opinion.

I’ll be releasing my first game shortly… As far as marketing strategy goes, I’ll be putting out a prelude/prologue version for free, (it’s an introduction to the story and about one third the size of the main ((paid)) title) then hopefully, I can grow a strong enough user-base to promote the primary game.

We’ve been developing them both as one project, so there’s no lag between releases - ie; time enough for people to lose interest.

I was looking for a bit of advice… How long do you think the gap should be between the free version and the paid version? We still want the initial release to be fresh in people’s minds, but obviously we want to give it enough time to gain some traction.

The guy who’s bank-rolling the project reckons about a month, but I seem to remember Firemaple Games releasing ‘The Lost City’ quite a while after ‘The Secret of Grisly Manor’, and it didn’t seem to affect their success.

Salut.
