I found some sample art from a game and I am trying to piece the sprite together. I found the sprite (the first image) and I want to make it look like the second image. Does any one know of a sprite creator that can do this?
To be honest, that’s not the sort of thing I’d do in a sprite editor. Just load the individual pieces into Corona (or as a sprite sheet) and build the object in there. Much easier to adjust and animate that way.
Do you know any editors that split the pieces apart? They are all in one file. I tried looking for sprite unpackers or decomposers, but I did not find anything useful.
Gimp?
Gimp did not work out for me.
I’ll look for something else.
It’s a fairly simple operation in Gimp. Load the image, select the [] rectangle select tool in the toolbox, draw round the image, control-X to cut, edit > paste as > new image. Save.
Thanks, found one that works well with my situation!
I love a product from Autodesk called SketchBook. It’s great for drawing and painting. And if you’re wanting to do vector art then I really like Affinity Designer. Both are for pay apps, but they are pretty inexpensive.

For pulling some stuff apart, I have used Shoebox as well. Niche, but effective. It does require Adobe Air.

It’s not an art editor, but has features to extract sprites etc.
Out of interest, you mentioned you found a solution. Which route did you take?
Well, eventually it did not work out, so I just cropped it using Preview.
