Backgrounded app does not get notifications?

Hi,

I just read the following in the Troubleshooting section of GameThrive docs :

3. Notifications are not being delivered to or displayed on a device

A.  A notification will not be displayed on the device if the application is currently running, even if it is in the background. However, you can use the GameThrive callback to show an in-app message to a user.

Can you kindly elaborate on this?

If an app is backgrounded (ie suspended) and a notification is sent, I would think that the notification should be shown to the user and when he/she taps on the notification the app should be resumed with the possibility to respond to launchargs etc. I thought this was already happening in GameThrive so I’m a little confused. Is the Q&A entry quoted above outdated or am I misunderstanding what it means?

Thanks much for your clarification.

Forwarding this on to our mobile developer who should be able to clarify.

Thanks for pointing this out. I just tested this on Android and the notification goes to the status bar when ever the app is not in focus. I believe the notification shows up in the notification center on iOS as well when the app is in the background but I can double check this tomorrow and update the wording.

I thought this was the case but having your confirmation and an update to the FAQ page is great! Thank you very much.

I tested this on a iOS 7 device and if your application is still running in the background a notification will be displayed in the notification center. I have updated our troubleshooting page. Thanks again.

This is normal behavior for iOS Push notifications.
