Corona/HTML5: Work in progress

Just a quick note that this is a very early beta.

As a baseline, you can verify that things work by building this project:

https://github.com/coronalabs/sample-webgl-demo

Ironically, simple samples like X-ray do not work, but complex ones like FilterDemo do.

How can one join this beta program? Thanks

Thanks for your interest. Right now, it’s a closed beta. We hope to open it up soon.

Ok. Thanks for your kind response. Will look forward to the open beta.

I got error like that with sample code you have provided:

“Could not create canvas: Could not create a WebGL context.,:(”

I tried in Chrome and IE10…

Which version of Chrome?

IE is listed under Known Issues (http://docs.coronalabs.com/daily/html5/)

Walter,

Hi. I’m probably not supposed to keep up-to-date with the latest releases, but it’s a habit.

HTML5 builds are not working in the 2014.2269 Windows Simulator.

Sorry, but I didn’t capture the error message before rolling back to 2266 which does work.

The error was something about a missing .js file Corona…something.js I think.

You guys probably know this, but HTML5 builds after 2266 continue to fail with this error:

Runtime error C:\Program Files (x86)\Corona Labs\Corona SDK\Resources/CoronaResources.js: No such file or directory stack traceback: [C]: ? [C]: in function 'error' ?: in function '?' ?: in function '?' ?: in function \<?:300\> Runtime error: C:\Program Files (x86)\Corona Labs\Corona SDK\Resources/CoronaResources.js: No such file or directory stack traceback: [C]: ? [C]: in function 'error' ?: in function '?' ?: in function '?' ?: in function \<?:300\>

Thanks for the heads up, Ed!

Any updates on this feature? html5 compiling - in general.

HTML5 is something that we want to do but we’ve had other more important tasks to work on (desktop builds, the fuse plugin, tvOS, etc. Now that Corona is part of Perk.com, we don’t yet know where HTML5 fits in the roadmap. We are a couple of days into working with Perk.com. Hopefully we can get some answers to questions like this soon.

Rob

Mind to share with developers any HTML5 build for us in year 2016? Even my team, we’ve to build web / Facebook games for this year.
