Happy then annoyed

So I downloaded Glider today on the trial basis and was initially impressed with it.  However it started to hang every time I messed with lua tables in my project (of which there are many).  I read a few issues on here so decided to update and now it wont even load after the updates??

This sort of thing loves to crash it:

myTable1 = {1,2,3,4,

myTable2 = {1,2,3,4}

I’m sure its the auto check thingy but I dont know.

Please sort this because it’s a great program just very unstable right now.  You will definitely have a license purchase if you can stabilise it.

I’m using 2009 mac book pro by the way.

Hello Supertapp,

it seems that the modules were not all getting updated. We released a patch updating all the modules to make sure everything is in sync. You can get glider up and running again by deleting the dev folder. Please navigate to this folder:

http://view.xscreenshot.com/8168fc8cd81d89816ad9894385890277

and delete everything except the config folder.

Next Glider should be able to start up, after that please get the update. One of the things fixed in the update is the exact issue that you are having.

Sorry about the inconvenience.

Thanks for a quick response however I tried deleting all of the folders except contig and it still wont boot fully, during boot it creates a var folder but then just sits there nothing happens.

I will have to re-install it and run with the older version but be careful when updating my tables for now.

Please let me know if there is another way to fix it?

Hello Supertapp,

Reinstall should fix it. Please do get the update when you re-install. It won’t break Glider this time and it will fix the table bug.

OK so I just dragged the glider package into applications again and copied over the top of it but when I run the update it still wont boot after this?  Everything OK until the update is run.

Do I need to do a complete uninstall and re install?

Hello Supertapp,

We just tried downloading it from our site http://www.mydevelopersgames.com/Glider/ and removing the old app and installing the newly downloaded one. After doing the update it seems to work fine. Are you running lion or mountain lion?

Do I need to do a complete uninstall and re install?

I think replacing the app package with the one from the dmg image is equivalent to this right?

Hmm strange, like I said I just copied over the top of mine maybe I need to remove it first?  I’m using Lion.

I completely removed it this time and re installed and the update has gone in properly!  Thanks for your support on this one MY Developers :)

Oh dear I spoke to soon,  just quit and rebooted and it is stuck again.  :(

Hello Supertapp,

Perhaps it would be faster if you sent us a gchat invite at mydevelopergames@gmail.com

Hello Supertapp,

Sorry we have tried to replicate the issue in a few different ways with no avail. Perhaps you can try with this version:

Sorry for the delay.  I tried the other build, loads up, run updates, netBeans updater shows, reloads OK, updates show up to date,  but if I quit and reopen it locks up.

Me too.    Deleted the old Glider and removed the /dev directory as advised.   Downloaded the latest version (Lua Glider InstallerJ7u40Dev), loaded up first time OK.   Did update, downloaded 24 updates.   It shows

Product Version: LuaGliderv19 201302132200

Java: 1.7.0_40-ea; Java HotSpot™ 64-Bit Server VM 24.0-b48

Runtime: Java™ SE Runtime Environment 1.7.0_40-ea-b29

System: Mac OS X version 10.8.3 running on x86_64; UTF-8; en_US
(luagliderv19)

User directory: /Users/rupert/Library/Application
Support/luagliderv19/dev

Cache directory: /Users/rupert/Library/Application
Support/luagliderv19/dev/var/cache

Close Glider but then subsequent loads fail.   I just get the LuaGlider menu at the top left, that’s it.   Cannot quit it either, have to go to Activity Monitor to kill it.

HELP!

I’m on Mountain Lion

Maybe you should try that build above, it allowed me to reload after the updates but not again if I quit.  would be interesting to see if yours does the same.

I did try that build above, as I said I could update but then couldn’t reload LuaGlider afterwards.

Then I did this and it seems to fix the problem…

With LuaGlider not running I removed the icon from the dock, loaded it from the Applications folder then added it back to the dock.   Seems to be fine now.

Hey I tried that and it works BUT…

I found once I add a project back into it, if I open a lua file within the project Glider will then lock up upon reload.  If I reinstall then add the project but open nothing then I can reload.  Weird!

Ah!  Yes, me too!

@MyDevelopers - try loading a project and opening a .lua file from the project, then quite the project and try launching LuaGlider again.    BOOM!!!   It doesn’t load properly.     Hey can we have a fix please?

Well spotted Supertapp Interactive!

Hello everyone,

Seems 1.9.3 was just too much of a jump for the patcher. We will create a new app package and that should solve these issues.

M.Y. Developers

Great news!  Let us know when it is finished

Hello Everyone,

Here is the link for the new dmg package. The updates are pre-installed so no need to check for updates when you install it.
