I’ve been using RevMob for almost a year now and I’ve averaged $2-$3 eCPM for full screen ads on iOS. Since February eCPM has been dropping (they also had internal server problems). I’m now getting $1 eCPM. I also use iAds banners which is now performing similarly around $1 eCPM, but far less intrusive than full screen ads. I would imagine that the full screen ads should be making more than banner ads. Is anyone getting better eCPM from other iOS ad networks?
I’ve tried Chartboost, Playhaven, Tap for Tap and Vungle before but their eCPM didn’t compare to Revmob back when Revmob was making $2-$3 eCPM.
Anyone know what a good ad network is for Android too?
Revmob works for Android but when I posted the eCPM was really low (~$0.03). Since my post it has gone up to $0.40.
I switched ad networks and tried Vungle and Playhaven recently.
Android Results:
Vungle was getting between $0.40 to $0.90 eCPM on Android I ended up switching back to Revmob once its eCPM rose back to $0.40 because I can get more impressions on full screen ads than video ads. I didn’t try Playhaven for android because some users get javascript errors when I enable it.
iOS Results:
I’m not sure if Vungle wasn’t able to get a good fill rate but I didn’t get as many impressions as I should have and the eCPM was under $1. I was expecting it to be 2-3x the Revmob eCPM but after 2 days I switched to Playhaven. It probably wasn’t enough time to get a good feel for the eCPM but even with Android it was higher than my full screen ad eCPMs the first day I switched. Playhaven eCPM was getting about $0.40 eCPM over the weekend and fell below $0.30 during the weekday.
In the end, I went back to Revmob for my full screen ads. Hopefully the eCPM goes back up during summer.
To be honest I probably didn’t leave the video ads up long enough to get a good idea of what the real eCPM was. I know that I was making less revenue/day with Vungle. Even if eCPM were higher I was still showing only 30% the amount of impressions as full screen ads (can’t show as many video ads as full screen ads because that would be annoying) so its eCPM had to be greater than 3x the full screen ad eCPM just to break even on revenue. My thought was that if Vungle eCPM was that low to begin with, I doubt it would have become 3x the full screen ad eCPM so I just decided not to use it.
Depending on where you place it in your game though it may have better results than what I got.
I haven’t tried adMob for over a year. When I did try them I didn’t get very good results, but things may have changed since then. What kind of CPC do they get? My eCPM for RevMob is actually only $1.3 so my CPC is lower than that.
That’s interesting. My only concern would be the CTR. If I had 100,000 impressions with $1.3 eCPM I could make $130. With adMob 100,000 impressions would only get 300 clicks (0.3% CTR) and make about $15 with 0.05 CPC. Even though CPC is better with adMob the lower CTR would hurt overall revenue.
Is there anyone else that could chime in with their results from adMob and whether the CPC model is better than eCPM for revenue?
But I am thinking CTR is more related to the app itself (the app content & how/where to place the ads), not greatly related to the ad provider. The only thing I can think of to relate CTR with an ad provider is the ad content.
If you can get high CTR with RevMob in your app, I am assuming you should also get high CTR with adMob.
I am not sure. It’s also something I want to figure out.
