I have installed the iOS5 GM and so far have had 0 problems. I am using daily builds though so not sure what the regular public build is like with it. [import]uid: 5833 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 59396[/import]

Ok, but what about XCode 4.2 and Corona SDK? [import]uid: 10666 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 59833[/import]

Hi
Xcode 4.2, iOS 5 newest corona daily build and SL… No problems:) [import]uid: 13156 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 59840[/import]

I just updated my iphone to ios5. When I go into xCode Organizer, I had to click again to use my phone for development. Once I did, I get this error message:
The version of iOS on “my iPhone” does not match any of the versions of iOS supported for development with this installation of the iOS SDK. Please restore the device to a version of the OS listed below, or update to the latest version of the iOS SDK;

Should I update my xCode now? I remember seeing that we should not do this. Has that advice changed? As of now, I can’t do a thing. [import]uid: 22392 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 61127[/import]

I have the same problem as chunkyapps. So i am curious If corona need the latest iOS sdk to build for iOS 5?
I’m using xcode 3.2 and dont like the new iTunes looking xcode and its issues.
So mayby I have a problem since the latest iOS sdk comes with the latest xcode?
And probably won’t install with xcode 3.2… [import]uid: 13632 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 61135[/import]

You may need to upgrade your Xcode since you upgraded your iOS.

We are not able to support people using betas of Apple software (NDA reasons, etc), but Xcode 4.2 is now public/final and as far as I know, Corona has no problems with Xcode 4.2 (I’ve been running the betas for awhile now on my main development machine), so it is probably safe to upgrade.

I’m using XCode 4.0 and that won’t work. I’m in the process of downloading XCode 4.2. Judging from Angry Orange’s post above mine, I assume its okay to install it once its downloaded.

However, I have an App waiting for review that I submitted 2 days ago. Should I rebuild it in XCode 4.2 and resubmit? Or should I assume it will work with IOS 5 devices?

EDIT @ewing Ah… I must have posted at the same time as you. You answered my first question there. Do I need to rebuild and resubmit my app? [import]uid: 22392 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 61139[/import]

No, you shouldn’t need to rebuild/resubmit. This is just so you can install it to your own iOS 5 device.

This is a useful thread as my iPod Touch testing device with iOS 5 just was delivered by Mr. FedEx. Before we submit our game to Apple, I just want to make sure all the new iPhone4S peeps won’t have an issue with our game. Any other interesting threads out there about iOS 5 and Corona SDK? Or are we fairly confident things are looking good?!???

(Thanks Ansca for a great SDK!) [import]uid: 74844 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 61697[/import]

Xcode 4.2 problem - Corona fails to build

Ever since I upgraded Xcode to 4.2, Corona won’t build. The message I get is:

The iOS SDK located at /Developer is missing the following component(s):
copypng
Please (re)install the the iOS SDK.

So of course I did to no avail.

Anybody else run into this? [import]uid: 46267 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 66577[/import]

Make sure you actually installed Xcode. Some people download from the App Store, but don’t realize that what you get is actually just an installer which you must run to finish installing.

The issue I’m having since updating Xcode to latest version is Organizer crashes nearly every time when I plug a device in for copying builds over to devices. Filed bug with Apple; they’re aware of issue. I wish I never installed 4.2 but then I cannot use iOS 5.0 devices for testing.

Note: my Xcode 4.2 is running on Snow Leopard. Your mileage may vary. [import]uid: 74844 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 66674[/import]

Hi jerome82
I have exactly the same problems with Xcode 4.2 Organizer on Snow Leopard , It’s really drive me crazy. but no problems with corona. Build 631, Xcode 4.2 [import]uid: 13156 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 66691[/import]

@PiotrT: agreed; except that getting the builds over to the devices is sort of key, no? I just mention it in case people are debating about moving from Xcode 4.0 to 4.2, I would simply say:

HOLD OFF IF YOU CAN!!!

EDIT: And the reason it’s relevant is because this thread was about iOS 5 and that’s what got me going down the path of Xcode 4.2; I couldn’t get builds onto those devices without updated Xcode. [import]uid: 74844 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 66693[/import]

true true but it’s rather impossible… On the other hand only 40% Iphones, 30% iPads and 12% iPods using iOS 5  [import]uid: 13156 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 66694[/import]

Where is that data coming from? [import]uid: 74844 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 66704[/import]

Probably you understand nothing but you can take a look on tables  [import]uid: 13156 topic_id: 16011 reply_id: 66712[/import]

So there are several different things going on in this thread. I’m going to be brief:

  • A lot of developers fail to install Xcode correctly. You must run the installer.

  • I was not aware of any crashing problems testing with installing onto iOS 5 devices with Xcode 4.2 on Snow Leopard. But welcome to Apple development. They expect you to upgrade all your software which means you should strongly consider Lion.

  • It is possible to install development apps to your device via iTunes instead of Xcode Organizer. You might try this as a workaround.

  • End users will not be affected by this bug because they use the App Store/iTunes to install distribution apps to their devices.

  • Since I do not know anything about the Apple crashing bug, I don’t know how to remedy it. I’ll speculate and suggest that daily build that went out today (I hope) may remedy the issue. We just switched over the build machine to Lion and Xcode 4.2 which means iOS apps are now compiled against the 5.0 SDK (and Mac Simulator is compiled against the 10.7 SDK). Apple may have failed to test installing 4.3 binaries to iOS 5 devices using Xcode 4.2 under Snow Leopard.
