iOS 9 Facebook Login Does not open Facebook App

Hi!

I just want to let someone know that the Facebook Login in iOS9 does not open up the Facebook App, it opens up Safari, regardless if the Facebook App is installed. I think that there was a change in iOS 9 that changed the calls to open up apps.

All the best,

Donald

Are you using the old Facebook plugin or the new Facebook V4 plugin?

Thanks Rob. I will check out the Facebook V4 plugin. I’m new to Corona SDK so I must have missed something :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks Rob. I will check out the Facebook V4 plugin. I’m new to Corona SDK so I must have missed something :stuck_out_tongue:

It is happening to me in V4, at the beginning i thought it was because I have not setted up my facebook acount. But i have setted it up and still openning the safar  webview

I also have the Facebook v4 plugin, and the login flow opens the Safari Webview instead of the facebook app on iOS 9.

As you can see in this article:

https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/2015/10/29/Facebook-Login-iOS9/

Apple is pushing towards using the safari webview for these actions, but it does allow you to open the app instead.

My question is, can Corona allow us to choose one of the 2 options (open webview or open app)?

Currently, it looks like it chooses for us the option of the webview.

I’m asking Engineering about it. I don’t think giving a choice will be feasible. Looking at that post, I’m not sure you would want to put the users through the fast switch to FB experience if they are going to have to face two additional dialogs.
