Monetizing Kids Apps with SUPERAWESOME SDK for iOS and Android

I would be interested to know if anyone including Coronalabs has heard of this new Kid safe advertising Superawesome SDK.
Looks like a possible answer to the COPPA dilemma which is threatening developers who create apps and games for the under 13 age group.

Do they have a plugin for Corona?  If not, I wouldn’t spend too much time looking into it.

I guess you’re right @roaminggamer. I can be too optimistic at times :frowning:

You can always use  Corona Enterprise or Corona Cards to implement 3rd party SDKs.

Rob

@Rob Miracle, would i need Enterprise or Coronacards to use Agecheq SDK - assuming you do / will support it?
If i am targeting the kids apps market, i want to ensure COPPA compliance with IAP and i need to know if i can only do that by using a paid subscription Basic/Pro  to add external SDK solutions. PS Enterprise is out of my league / pocket.
Thanks

Engineering is swamped.  They are very unlikely in the near future to add in SDK’s like this.  Once we get the marketplace in place, then I could see a community member making it and perhaps it would work at different subscription levels.  Today, however if you want to use this SDK, it should work with Corona Enterprise.  We will support Enterprise, but we really can’t support the 3rd party SDKs that you might use.

You will need to at least be a Basic subscriber to use IAP.

Rob

This is disappointing news @Rob Miracle. Your company must surely appreciate the importance of kids app developers being COPPA compliant weighed up against the number of users who have the basic and Pro license and will not be able to add the required code into their apps without the Enterprise license.
I might have to look at Marmalade Quick, Unity or even Cocos2D-x as alternatives. I was so set on learning Corona and getting the Basic license. Sadly, even with IAP, it’s totally void if my apps are not COPPA compliant and i won’t risk the $16,000 per download fine either.

To anyone else looking up info on Agecheq, here’s the Corona SDK Walkthrough video and documentation.

@MisterK, we do appreciate kids apps.  But the reality is, we no nothing about this company.  They could always reach out to us and build and support their plugin (like our other Ad vendors do).  We can’t possibly support everyone.  This is also why we offer Corona Enterprise and Corona Cards, so you are empowered to do your own.

We are working on getting a market place setup, when that happens you could convince an Enterprise developer to build it for you.

Rob

MisterK,

I think there may be some confusion about your questions. You started off asking about Superawsome and then switched to asking about AgeCheq.

Superawsome is the service that you would need CoronaCards or Enterprise for.

AqeCheq appears to have a REST API interface and that can be used with Starter, Basic and Pro. On the AgeCheq page that you linked to, there is a button right below the video “DOWNLOAD THE SDK”. If you download these files you will get a CoronaSDK sample project that is 100% Lua code that demonstrates how to use the service.

I haven’t used AgeCheq but I have used other 3rd party services that use a REST API (parse.com, pubnub.com, etc).

Hi @elbowroomapps. Yes, you are right. I had started the post asking about Superawesome and its morphed into some angst about Agecheq.

That is really good news if i can use their SDK with starter - Pro license.
Thanks
