Can we kindly add “Device Type” as in IOS or Android to the Filters available in Segment creation? Right now I tag players with device type so I can provide this segmentation but since you detect and track players device types it would make sense to do this segmentation using your internal data and not waste an extra tag and related overhead on this pretty basic need. Thanks for considering.
Hey ksan,
We definitely can. We have a big update that we expect to release later today and I’ll see if we can get this added to it.
Though so I can better understand your use case, I’m wondering why you prefer to use a segment to separate users by device type instead of just enabling/disabling iOS/Android delivery when you send a notification?
Hey George,
Thanks for considering this. Great question. Simple answer is I like counting them! Segments help me see how many registered devices of each type I have at a given time. I am sure we can find downstream uses too.
For example, it would be great if you could collect another bit of info on device model. So I could create segment for iphone vs ipad and target messages meant for tablet users accordingly for example.
I can do all this thanks to your flexible tags today so not a rush by any means but I appreciate your consideration.
Regards,
Kerem
Filters for device type (ios/android) are live now
The phone/tablet thing is a good point so I put filters for device model on our todo list.
Wow! How responsive are you guys??? This is beyond belief! Thank you very very much!!!
