What's up with ChartBoost Plugin?

I’m using the com.swipeware Chartboost plugin right now. It seems that it still works because I just did an update to a game recently using it. But I noticed it’s gone from the Plugin Store and also all the threads from the forum about it are gone.

#1 Question: Should I expect any problems with it?

#2 Quiestion: I found this link https://docs.coronalabs.com/daily/plugin/chartboost/index.html for a new official Chartboost plugin, but when going to https://docs.coronalabs.com/daily/plugin/index.html it’s not in the list. Also the github is empty ( https://github.com/coronalabs/plugins-sample-chartboost). Should I update to this in the new releases? Is it a stable version?

thanks

Ditto!

Hi @beckslash,

The plugin you found is currently in flux and we don’t have a specific ETA on its potential release. You should not attempt to use it at this time. As for the Swipeware version, if it works for you, that’s great, but we nor the original author support it any longer so it’s your risk to attempt using it. If anything changes on this front, we’ll be the first to officially announce it to the Corona community.

Thanks,

Brent

Hi Brent;

So . . . if I make a build of an app and I include (in my build.settings file) “plugin.chartboost” with a publisherID of “com.swipeware”, I am still getting the old swipeware version, correct? I simply want to make certain that NOTHING has changed as that version has been cock solid for a long time.

Thanks;

Steve

Hi Steve,

I don’t think anything has changed with that old Swipeware plugin, but we don’t support it any longer so I’m not the best person to ask. If you are concerned, I suggest that you email the author and ask, or check in the forums for other threads which discuss that plugin.

Best regards,

Brent

Quick update: The previous plugin is no longer supported. While it might still work today, we can’t guarantee it will work in the future. We are interested in working with Chartboost to develop a new, fully supported plugin. Be sure to email bizdev@chartboost.com to let them know that you’d like to use Chartboost in your Corona apps.

After I read this message at the SwipeWare GitHub page I contacted Chartboost, to ask if they do not support Corona anymore.

Here is their reply, and mine back.

It sounds like they want to help out, but can we expect a native plugin from Corona / Chartboost? Or is it up to someone else in the community to pick up the torch where SwipeWare left it?

Hi Chartboost,

We have already integrated Chartboost into our game – still only launched below the radar.

But now we found that you no longer supports Corona, is that really true?

Why?

Kind regards,
Anders

Hi Andres,

Thanks for writing in. It is true. As you may be aware, the 3rd Party developer who created the Chartboost plugin (Swipeware) is no longer updating the plugin. This is however a plugin (because we didn’t make) we cannot fully support.

Ingemar has left the Chartboost Corona plugin open source, so please feel free to contribute and update the plugin.

That being said, we’ll try to help with the basic Chartboost functionalities, but please do keep in mind that we may reach a point where I would defer you to the Corona community as a resource for help.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this.

Thanks again for contacting us!

Is there any news about the plugin? I really want to integrate chartboost in someway. At least, If someone can upload example code about the old plugin to somewhere for us to get, I’d be very very glad.

Best

As someone with a heavy dependence (7000 impressions a day) on the Chartboost plugin (swipeware version) I would really appreciate if Corona SDK would support this.    From my own experience Chartboost has generated more revenue than admob, iads, vungle and every other ad service I’ve used in my game by very large margins.  I see my own use of Corona SDK waning as stuff like this continues to happen.

I agree with Ernest 100%. Any comments from Corona?

Corona can not make every plugin under the sun, it needs support in team work from the ad providers. I am not speaking for corona but based on what I have seen. If chartboost sends an email to corona saying we are interested, thier will most likely be a plugin.

I’ve invested 2 years of my life into developing my first mobile game with Corona. It was a risk, a risk thus far which appears to have been worth it. Corona is easy and powerful - seems to take less battery life from other mobile development platforms.

However, I’m concerned about Corona’s future when I see that there is no support for one of the top ad networks --> ChartBoost.

With that said, I am still recommending Corona to everyone I know. You’ve done a great job with it!

But please, help us monetize our Apps!!! Then, we can make more and use Corona for list!

I’m now checking on the RevMob plug-in. Now, I realize that Corona cannot politically endorse one ad network over another. But it would be nice to have a constructive comparison between them based upon a certain date. Again, please help us monetize our Apps!

We are helping you monetize your apps. We have produced a ton of ad plugins with high eCPMs from many top ranked networks. I know you want Chartboost. Right now I’m waiting on an update on some things. It is after all the weekend… When I have an update more than “I’m looking into it” I will share it with you.

Rob

Hi Rob, yes, I think it’s difficult with the ever-evolving ad network market to keep up with all of them. Perhaps the ad network market will mature and settle on a few major ones before too long.

Hey Rob, it would be great if a little note could be added to the documentation pages if possible (e.g. https://docs.coronalabs.com/plugin/chartboost/index.html) that informs developers when things aren’t working. Looking forward to trying the new chartboost plugin when it’s ready.

I’ll see what I can do about the documentation.

Any news regarding the Chartboost plug-in?!

We are working on a Chartboost solution and should have more information over the next couple of weeks.

Rob

The CoronaAds look great - I have responded to the email I received when signing up, but can you confirm that Corona takes 5% of the earned revenue? And also, are you aware that this solution breaks my previous Chartboost integration? Not so nice. Also, what different Ad Networks does Corona Ads use? If I don’t know what Ad Networks Corona is monitoring and using, how should I know if I should change from my own multi-network implementation?

  1. “Similar to our AppLovin and Facebook Audience Network plugins (quite popular in the community as well), Corona will take a small 5% commission before paying the remaining 95% to you, the developer.”
