When it will be released a new version of Glider?

Hi MY folks.

Do you guys have an outlook of when we will be seeing a new version of Lua Glider? I really like the IDE but the bugs that we are seeing (cpu overload, background project search, files does simply don’t appear inside the project,…) it is making impossible to use the software.

I may be restarting Lua Glider 3 times per day to be able to use it…

Best,

Renato

Hello Renato,

Sorry for the inconvenience. We have been trying to fix these issues even though we can’t replicate them. We have tried multiple solutions and we will push an update this weekend that will hopefully fix some of the bugs.

Regards,

M.Y. Developers

I’m in this club as well.

Great. Looking forward for the update.

Let me know how can help with the bugs (sendings logs,…)

Best,

Renato

Hello Renato,

We can send you a link to a testing update server if you wish. It would actually help us a lot before we release it to the general user base. We will send you a link tomorrow when it is available.

Yes, please do so. I will be glad to help

Hello Renato,

Please follow the instructions below:

  1. tools -> plugins

  2. please view the screenshot below and change the repository to:

You should now be getting updates. Please note that you may need to clear the user directory after this procedure if Glider starts acting funny. We had to change the definition of a glider project to be a bit more restrictive (the folder must contain a main.lua or a gliderproperties.proj.) We needed to make this change to allow the Lua editing feature to be used with all other netbeans project types.

We really hope this fixes the problem. Please let us know either way.

I am running that new version for a few weeks now and although It didn’t remove all occurrences of SSS, it reduced it a lot. So, everyone that is facing the problem should update to that new version.

Hello Renato,

Thats great news. Its good to know we are moving in the right direction. Are you able to find a pattern to the remaining lock-ups?

I noticed that luaGlider sometimes get too slow (consuming a lot of cpu) when I am editing a file and the Corona Simulator is open/running. If I close the simulator, luaGlider comes to normal.

Hello Renato,

Thanks for the observation. There should be very little traffic between the simulator and Corona unless you are at a breakpoint or the mouse hovers over a symbol. Glider also adds symbols to the autocomplete database based on the debugger feedback but it does so only when you are at a breakpoint, this could potentially be a source of the cpu consumption.

Does any of this seem like it could be causing the problem for you?

No, I was not running on Debug Mode. It was happening both when running the Simulador thru the Play button or the Hammer button.

But that problem also don’t happen always. I just noticed now that when I start to see some performance problem, it is related to that.

Is there anything that I can do (look at some log file,…) when the Glider starts to freeze that can help you guys figure out the root cause?

Hello Renato,

Please send logs via help-> upload logs.
