Which store? I can’t even see that section today in the UK store
Post a link to the featured game!
The featured game is this one:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/scolors/id1451650715
At least on App Annie it says it should be on the “new games we love” in the UK! And here are some of the other countries: France, Germany, Norway, Turkey, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden and many more.
well done! is that your first feature? Should get plenty of downloads over the weekend - I got a minor feature for one of my games ages ago on iphone and ended up with 50k downloads
Yes, it’s the first and I’m so proud and happy Really motivates me to keep building games.
50k is amazing, I don’t dare to get my hopes up that high.
That’s an awesome game. I live the idea of building quickly developed by solid, neat ideas. I always seem to get mired in some petty detail and never finish. Just can’t commit to 12 in 12 but wish I could! Well done!
Thought the logo said “antisocialgasses” for a moment.
Congrats! Keep up the good work.
Thank you @horacebury!
One of the reasons I decided to build 12 games in 12 months was to become better at finishing projects. For years I’ve been building games for a few months just tweaking and adding features until I lost motivation and started something new. So I had to become better at finishing projects and setting limitations to my self.
@cyberparkstudios Thank you
That’s me that is!!
I have to ask: how did you decide on the games to build? What was the criteria for reducing complexity and what do you do when you reach the fourth week and find something which will take serious effort to complete?
I usually sit and talk with my gf (she does most of the graphics) and we just try to come up with as many ideas as possible and then we write down the ones we like best. I have much experience with programming, so I try to figure out how long the game will take to create.
If I think the game is doable and will be fun to play, we start designing and building it.
The 12 games in 12 months isn’t fixed to 1 game per month. SquareSpinner (our first game) took only two weeks I think, so that let me have more time for the other games. Some games will take longer and some shorter
I thought about joining you in the 12 games in 12 months challenge, but have too many things on the go
Don’t be too excited about 50K - that made $4k - it sounds like more then it is. That was thru iPhone and a contact at apple - did you use a contact, advertising, or any other marketing to get your feature? If not thats really good!
Be really excited to know how it does over this weekend.
I understand. It takes a lot of time!
No, I don’t have any contacts and no advertising. Just been writing on a couple of forums and reddits. So I guess it’s good luck combined with a good game.
It’s exciting to watch the download numbers, don’t look forward to when it’s not featured anymore
It’s been a while since I’ve updated this posts… Here’s whats new:
A little while after the feature on App Store was finished, I was lucky enough to be featured by Google Play too
Currently the game is featured in the Indie Corner:

We’re have added a lot of new features to Scolors including more modes and a lot of improvements. We’re going to continue working on this game since it’s so popular.
But we also need to continue our challenge, so we’re working on a new game. The progress is good, but I want to spend some extra time polishing the game. Looking forward to share more info about it when we’re closing in on the release date.
Good to see it on the featured list - goes to show it can happen! I’ve only had minor features on AppStore for both of my games, but that was from a friend having a contact at apple. The difference in dl and $ between getting featured and not is significant
Got a game coming out soon so this has motivated me a little - thanks!
It’s been too long since I’ve written something here :S Been really busy this summer.
But I have some exciting news
Our new game will be sent to Apple and Google Play in just a few days. Really looking forward to share it here on the forums
Hi everyone!
We have just released a new game called Colorlane! and I would love to get your opinion about it.
Here’s the game description:
Colorlane is the game where the lanes have multiple colors and so does your character.
To be able to drive on the lanes you must jump and change color so you match the lane you’re landing on.
High speed and everchanging colors make you sit on the edge with a high pulse tapping away to make those hard jumps. With only one shot to make it, how far can you get?
I made a trailer from the game you can watch here:
You can find the game here:

Great looking concept. Interesting to see the progression of your games too - none are too much of a leap from the previous and there are definitely similarities with other games, but these last few concepts have been quite unique. Nice to see somebody who isn’t just repeating existing games.
Just one negative from me - I see the latest is a paid game, but also includes in-game ads? I personally would be annoyed as a gamer if I still had to endure adverts after paying for the game itself. I suppose I consider adverts as being in lieu of payment, so it’s a one-or-the-other thing for me. Oddly I’m less bothered about paid games that contain IAP items though.
Thanks for the feedback
When it comes to the ads I will just say that it isn’t ads between matches or anything like that. Some of the levels in the game are quite long and you only have one shot. But you can continue where you died if you watch an ad, so at least it’s not something you have to do.
I’m thinking about implementing iaps where you can buy 5 “retries” or something similar.
A paid game = no ads, no iap. Quite a fundamental rule.
@sgs thanks for the feedback!
I will create a new release with no ads I totally agree with both of you, it’s just that I felt there had to be a “down side” for receiving a second chance.
