Introduce yourself

Greetings Corona’ers

–insert standard jargon here

Stu here. (hence stuville user name) 50 (ouch!) and after spending 26 years in the corporate world, founded Gizbitz LLC in 2008 to get away from wearing a suit coat and tie. The mobile app industry is hot and now we are primarily a software development firm specializing in iOS and Android apps. Started using Corona in Sept. 2010 and can now safely add Corona in our list of tools along with Obj-C and Unity.

We have a few apps in the app store under our name, but most are under marketing agency banners.

Slots Of Love - Romance Ideas
SexIsFun.net - Spin the bottle (Frivolous Entertainment)
Orbs Away! - Chips Away clone (my wife really wanted this) iPhone/iPad/Mac…she also wanted to play it anywhere

See ya on the forums!

Hello!

JC here. Have been into computers since my old man brought home a prototype IBM PC (painted red) in 1981. I was a second generation IBMer for a while, and have been employed in the tech industry since 1987.

Corona is exactly what I’ve been looking for! Glad to be here - in my third week of learning the platform and having a blast!

Thanks and I look forward to collaboration and code exchanges with this great community that seems to be rapidly evolving.

Hello, I’m reelfernandes, I’ve been using Adobe AIR to develop for mobile, and was recently blown away with the ease & performance of Corona. I’m from the Pacific NW and look forward to migrating some apps, as well as creating fresh ones in Corona. I do more app development & UI design than games = )

Hi, I’m Daniel Glover (no not the guy from lethal weapon :p) and have my own startup games company www.infuseddreams.com that is finally starting to pick up

I am 25 and have been programming since i was 18 (only found out about it at 18 :frowning: ). I have always been a “Homebrew” developer until I got an iPhone and decided to see if I could use my self taught skills to persue my dream of making games and apps for a living.

Previously I developed a lot of games/apps/ports for the Playstation Portable. I am responsible for porting Wolfenstein 3D to PSP, improving the Snes9x port on the PSP (Snes9x Euphoria), and making a tool similar to Corona for the PSP (LuaPlayer Euphoria). Along with my own Mario homebrew game (Mario Fusion), that I made for Windows, Mac, Linux & PSP, along with a map editor to go along with it.

I am a self taught programmer, along with help over the years from my best friend in Canada Dale Wick.

I am proficient in C/C++, Lua and know some PHP, HTML and XML.

I am currently working on “Amazing Machine” which I sold to a client, and that should be released soon. I am currently doing a lot of contract work to pay the bills (unemployed, former computer salesman).

Thanks  [import]uid: 6981 topic_id: 5909 reply_id: 25265[/import]

Hi, I am Glyn.

Been trying to get my head around Objective-C for about 7 months and got absolutly nowhere. Found corona. Fell in love with it and am able to get on with the real business of actually making an app as opposed to learning a language.

My background is Actionscript 3, building coporate sites such as my company’s website.

Looking forward to creating a couple of games and interactive books. [import]uid: 22878 topic_id: 5909 reply_id: 25450[/import]

Hi my name’s Elizabeth,

I’m an artist and iOS developer of several Native iPhone apps built using Xcode: iCrochet, Stitches, Stitches for Knitting, Tennis Grips, Tennis Grips for Women, Sara’s Ladybugs, a Musical Counting Game for Toddlers, and my very own Art App, which is set to release on the App Store sometime this month.

I consulted on/ custom developed with my husband John Borchert the Cartolina Apps versions 1.0 to 1.2. Rated Number 1 by Mashable!

I’ve switched recently to Corona to maximize our presence through cross platform development for iOS and Android and to accelerate our game development process.

I’m also working with Unity3D for a 3D specific game title that I intend to release next year.

Jayant, where abouts in Aus were you thinking of organising a Corona meetup? I live in QLD and I think it’d be neat to meet up with some fellow Corona developers in the area. [import]uid: 9428 topic_id: 5909 reply_id: 26149[/import]

Hi all,
My name is Bruno Gallien and I am a French guy living in London.
I’ve had a computer since 1981 ( the famous ZX-81 with the bubble keyboard and 1ko memory ) and been a professional IT for the past 13 years mainly doing C++.
At the beginning of the year I decided to go frenzy and founded BlueGlutton Ltd to do games for the mobile world. I went for Corona because it allows me to code once for Android and IPhone.

Hello I’m Bart Libert

I’m a primary school teacher overday, but after work I create educational software for primary school kids with my company EducaSoft.

Currently I have over 20 different cd-rom titles published selling thousands of copies yearly.

Now I want to create another killer product, but then preferably available for both iOS, Android and web.

At first flash seemed like the ideal solution for this, but not everything about flash is gold so we want to try now using corona for the iOS/android part.

Hi, I’m Greg Squire. I’m a 42 year old from Utah, USA, and I’m still in the works of getting my indie games company going (Monkey Time Software). I’m a web developer by day, but a games developer by night (when I have spare time). I’m hoping to finish my first Corona project here soon.

I’m also the coordinator for a group of indies that get together on a quarterly basis to give support to each other.

Hi All - I’m Frank - 47, married and stay at home parent (my day job!).

I’ve developed one app - iSee 123 - A Counting Adventure for preschoolers using XCode - Objective-C, but just so hard for this non-programmer. I’m also a published author and illustrator of books for children.

You can learn more here: www.bengalroo.com
(the app only works with the iPhone or iPod Touch)

The folks at Ansca really did a great thing making the Corona SDK for those of us who are code challenged. Corona SDK is really amazing. Thanks so much.

I’m working on several projects while learning my way around the Corona SDK - First, I’ll be porting iSee 123 to Corona - using Corona to add more interactivity, fun mini games and changing the animations from .mv4 files to animating sprites. Challenging, but with so many examples, bits of available code, and you all - Corona’s creative users, I know this process will be rewarding.

I’m also working on a book app - it will be heavily illustrated and populated with interactivity. I hope to have a working prototype before my son’s summer vacation starts.

You can follow me on twitter: iSeeApps

Be well,

Frank

I only just found this thread as I haven’t been in the forum much lately.

I’m obviously Peach Pellen; I’m 21 and I live in Sydney, Australia.

I’ve been using Corona since October 2010 and run http://techority.com - a website dedicated to Corona tutorials.

I moved over here from GameSalad after the great Direct debacle and I’ve really gotten comfortable fast.

Corona is just amazing and I’m so happy to have learned so much Lua in such a short time as someone with a non coding background.

I like helping the community, writing tutorials when I can, pimping me Corona templates (*cough* http://buypremadeapps.com) and horror movies, which is unrelated to anything.

Corona is, at this stage, all I do - I make apps, I run a couple of sites related to apps and I write tutorials as well as spending a good solid number of hours each day helping out Corona users via email.

Lastly, I LOVE being a part of the Corona community, so any Facebook adds or Tweets would be great. (@peachpellen)

I hope to see more of everyone here as many of you I’ve not seen around before - perhaps due to my recent inactivity.

Peach Pellen

PS - @Graham - you’re 25? I had it in my head you were much, MUCH older. That’s a compliment by the way. :stuck_out_tongue: [import]uid: 10144 topic_id: 5909 reply_id: 27185[/import]

I’m James and I am a full time programmer/developer. I run http://www.buckeroo.ca that has a bunch of Flash games. I programmed a custom integration with Mochimedia for the site. My main work is developing automation apps and anything that will make the work faster.

My site is at http://www.jtadeo.com. I wrote a little blog about the 48 hour challenge and currently doing work that uses CoronaSDK. I hope to post some Corona tutorials in order to contribute to this awesome community.

In case you’re wondering, my forum name comes from the fact that my dog’s name is luna and it seemed fitting as the SDK name is Corona…you know, Cornona, luna, etc…yeah get it right??? right???

James == awesome :slight_smile: [import]uid: 10144 topic_id: 5909 reply_id: 27603[/import]

I’m back as a subscriber. I was here in the early Corona days but I must admit I’m very passive in the forums. I read a lot but with my day-job I get so tired and the threads go so fast… So here’s a bio. I’ve been coding since I was young (cliché ^^;) and I’ve had some game projects here and there without really finishing one of them. I’m a letter carrier during daylight and I turn into a coder at time lately, thanks to Corona. (oh yeah, and all of you guys tweeting and stuff)

So here I am, few steps away from submitting my first game to the app store (techority challenge game involving a princess and a moon! Added features and polished it a bit). I did studies in cartoon animation and I’m going back to school to do some computer science studies so I can have a certificate/diploma of some sort so I can try at another job, closer to what I like.

I live in Canada (oh so cold Canada), Quebec province in a little village called Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon… (where the internet is still some sort of evil =_=; ) with my wife, my almost 2yo son and our three horses.

Yay ! That’s about it ! [import]uid: 1058 topic_id: 5909 reply_id: 27984[/import]
