#screenshotsaturday -- Post your screen shots here.

A day late, but…

Now out in Open Alpha on Google Play… “Mr. Robinson” a funny retro endless runner with pixel art.

We did mention Corona in the credits btw! :wink:

You can get the game here:

Feedback welcome!

Nice start.  Couple of suggestions.

The Bird animation seems to run a bit long since you have to see it every time you die. Perhaps only have it once and on restarts, he picks up right after he was ejected from the scrum.

Also it takes a little getting used to the 1-2-3 tap jump and maybe at the start you could spread objects out a bit and only have 1 height jumps then start brining in two tap and three tap objects. It seemed a bit challenging to clear a one tap object first and then after dying the first object being a three tapper. I guess what I’m saying is having a little warm up time at the beginning would help a bit.

Sequel to my dungeon crawler coming soon…

Thank you for the feedback Rob!

Today we have uploaded version 1.4 of Mr. Robinson which now has improved gameplay and is running with 60fps now.

We also have changed the restart time which now is faster!

I’ve just begun a racing/something game and so far am having a blast working out stuff like:

  • Track generation

  • AI steering

  • ++

FYI - In video ‘green’ is not leader.  It is the AI I thought should be best and it turned out to be.  Yay!

This is a short progress video (not a screenshot  :wacko:  ):

I have been quietly working on Goblin Age all this time. Over the past two years I have been working for long periods of time on major group projects that take priority over goblin age, but I’ve been making progress whenever I can.

  • All levels are complete except for the last one, 32 which is in progress

  • I made a math generated background to appear behind the display window, so any negative space outside of the game display window is filled.

  • I moved the game controls to the edge of the actual device display area to make them easier to reach, thus more comfortable.

  • I made changes to the gameplay HUD so it takes up less screen space and is more compressed.

  • I built a mini-map to help players navigate the larger levels in the second half of the game so they don’t get lost. The mini-map appears on the pause screen.

  • Various performance optimizations.

A new slot machine game, set to publish on Google as soon as I clear the in-app-purchase issue; so hopefully it will be on the market Monday.  Then within the week app store and amazon.

I know, it’s not Saturday (at least not in Oregon) yet, but if I wait I’ll forget:

I worked last year on a project with a client to re-write a Childrens’ Story App.  This work included writing the App and a full- multi-user editor with an AWS back-end and the whole work.

It was a major project that (IMHO) succeeded.   I’d love to get any feedback you’ll might have and I’m sure the client would love to see some downloads and reviews.  So, if you can spare the time and/or if you have kids of your own, please consider taking a peek at:

Great work Ed! The only thing I noticed was that some background sound disappeared sometimes when I turned back a page. Otherwise I couldnt make the app crash so you have done a good job.
Unfortunatly my children dont understand english so I cant test it on them but all in all it is a great app.

@Sirmania,

The sound in the game is quite tricky.  Because the ‘pages’ are an accumulation of all of prior pages in the chapter, we simply don’t play certain sounds when swiping back.

This was further complicated by the three story modes which themselves disable some features and/or pages.

It is the one part of the app I am NOT happy with yet.  I just don’t have a good solution at this point.

The sound issue is a minor detail. The app is really well made. To get some downloads I guess I would try targeted facebook-ads, Instagram ads and appstore ads. Write blogposts about the app. Contact relevant bloggers, podcasts and websites.

Make many of the in-appurchases free for some days. Steve Young says this is a great strategy but you have to contact relevant websites and let them know about the campaign. Young usally contacts appadvice.

Of course you have to go through the ASO of the app. You should also add a video in the app stores.

preliminary animation test for a (very) low-rez 1-bit 1-tap shooter concept.  nothing special about the art, but crafting a config.lua that worked properly (pixel perfect) across target devices was a bit tricky.
